This is the most frequently asked questions by our guests, and the answer is 'Always'. Jim Corbett is one destination which has a round the year season. Although Dhikala and Bijrani zones are not open during the monsoons, but Jhirna and Dhela zones are open round the year. Do ask about the zone availability while booking your Jim Corbett Package. Dhikala and Bijrani night stay are open from 15th November till 15th June.

Where to stay in Jim Corbett?

This question is very subjective and depends upon your purpose of visit. Although there are many luxury and budget resorts in Jim Corbett but many people prefer to stay inside the forests i.e Dhikala. If with family and kids we would advice you to stay outside the national park in a nice resort in Jim Corbett, because in Dhikala and Bijrani zone the facilities are very basic. Apart from Dhikala all other rest houses don't have electricity too. Please discuss the pros and cons of stay inside and outside the national park area while booking your Jim Corbett Package.

Ideally people who stay in a resort in Jim Corbett should do a minimum of two safaris. It increases your chance of spotting a tiger or a leopard and also gives you a chance to understand the beauty of nature. If you book two or more jeep safaris in Jim Corbett National Park then you can explore more then one zones too, for example in the morning if you book jeep safari in bijrani zone or jhirna zone in the evening or next morning you can visit Dhikala zone. If staying for more then 3 days one can opt for multiple safaris.

There is no camera fee for tourists in Jim Corbett while going on a safari, although authorities do charge for filming professionally inside Jim Corbett National Park.

Both Jeep safari and elephant safari have different charms. Elephants have no defined paths, the mahouts can take them off road and into the bushes too. Elephant back is adventurous way to explore the jungle, you can see every nook and corner of the forest while sitting on an elephant. Elephant safaris are for 2 hours and max four people can sit on it at a time. Elephant safaris are available in Bijrani zone, Dhikala zone and in the buffer zone. Jeep safaris on the other hand are for four hours and more comfortable then an elephant back. Jhirna, Dhela, Bijrani and Durgadevi zones can be visited in Jeeps whereas for day visits in Dhikala only canters are allowed.

Safaris for Bijrani, Dhela, Jhirna, Durgadevi and Dhikala zones can be booked 30 days in advance whereas for sitavani zone permits can be obtained on the spot.

Jim Corbett National Park is accessible by all modes of transportation. It has a very very connected road network. All the major cities in the region are connected through road. Ramnagar the nearest city is around 260 kilometres from Delhi. There are trains from Moradabad, Delhi etc for Ramnagar. The nearest airport is Pantnagar. There are buses from Delhi plying regularly for Ramnagar.

Safari timings vary from season, morning timings can start between 5.45 am to 6.30 am and end at 9.45 am and 10.30 am, likewise afternoon timings can start from 1.30 pm to 2.30 pm and end at 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm. Maximum time allotted for jeep safaris is 4 hours.

  1. -It is compulsory for all the guests to carry their ID proofs for jeep safari.
  2. -Maximum of 6 adults are allowed per jeep.
  3. -For Dhela, Jhirna, Bijrani, Durgadevia and Dhikala zones permits need to be obtained in advance, sitavani safari can be booked directly at the gate.

When you think about Jim Corbett all you think about is of forests, but the nearest town Ramnagar has all the facilities a visitor would require. Ramnagar has a splendid 24X7 market. Many articles like cold drinks, sweets, biscuits, chocolates, juices, tea, mineral water, fruits etc are readily available round the clock. There is also a government run hospital in Ramnagar with 24x7 emergency facilities. There are many banks and ATMs too in Ramnagar. Other services like mechanics, medical stores, garment stores etc are also present in abundance.
